Commissioning Team - Adult Social Care

12-month fixed term contract or secondment

We are expanding our Commissioning Team - are you solution-focused, innovative, and driven to achieve the best possible outcome for Solihull citizens? Then read on to find out more.

During the COVID-19 pandemic the Commissioning Team has faced its biggest challenges whilst working on the front line with the care sector in Solihull. As we now learn to live with COVID-19 the Commissioning Team remains ambitious by driving forward our transformational approach and working closely with providers, bringing new ideas and responses to the fore and ensuring we have the right range of innovative services to meet the changing needs of the people of Solihull.

The Commissioning Manager will have the opportunity to influence the wider direction of Commissioning by supporting the delivery of high-profile transformation projects.

You will be working closely with the Strategic Commissioner to deliver and apply appropriate specialist support at all stages of the Commissioning cycle. You will lead on recommissioning services to try and increase the resilience of the local care market and ensure that services meet the diverse needs of residents. You will work to evaluate need, engage with the care market, and develop and refine specifications to make sure they are meeting the outcomes residents need.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to work at pace, manage and support a committed team of staff, clearly communicate your understanding of what excellent social care looks like, and work effectively with a range of providers to facilitate any improvements required.

You will bring your knowledge and experience of what matters to people who use care and support services, have the ability to assess and identify both good quality and areas of deficiency, and work with team colleagues to monitor and improve provider effectiveness.

In return, you will be working with friendly and supportive colleagues who are committed to delivering excellent outcomes. You will be part of a dedicated team where you will be valued and work within a local authority that really understands and respects the contribution of Adult Social Care and Support to the local community. You will also appreciate the importance of commissioning in the delivery of these services.

We also offer:

  • A range of flexible working options
  • Generous annual leave entitlements with the opportunity to purchase up to 10-days additional leave per year
  • A flexitime scheme with up to 24 days per year
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service
  • Family and carer friendly policies
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Employee benefits including staff discounts, subsidised travel passes and Cycle 2 Work Scheme

We have increased our investment in Commissioning therefore if you have the skills, experience and passion and want to be part of our ambitious journey then please consider applying.

The Commissioning Team currently operates a hybrid approach to include time working in the office and working from home.
