We are looking for a Business Manager to oversee all core business functions within the City Events service, with a key focus on governance, financial processes, and reporting.

Do you want to feel empowered to do your job, supported by your team and valued for the work you do?

Are you looking to work for an organisation where diversity is celebrated and where there is commitment to fairness and equality?

If so, then City of Wolverhampton Council has an opportunity for you!

The postholder will work closely with Corporate Finance, Procurement and Legal teams to ensure overseeing all aspects of business management of the service in order to achieve strong governance and reporting for the service.

As part of the vision for Wolverhampton to be an Events City, we are developing a bold five-year Events Strategy, building on the existing events programme,  aimed at delivering footfall and local economic benefit to the city. Join us on our journey to develop and deliver this ambitious plan.

Working closely with partners, our vibrant programme of events, with audiences ranging from 8 – 80,000, includes live events, festivals, religious events, televised events, major sporting events, community events and large and small outdoor events across many locations in the city.

The post-holder will be responsible for overseeing all core business functions within City Events, working with relevant officers, departments and partners to deliver on-going financial management, reporting and KPIs.

The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level, with experience of financial reporting, monitoring of KPI’s and report writing. Able to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities, the post holder will have strong project management skills.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of event finances, council processes and procedures and reporting, ideally with experience within an events environment, but not essential.

Due to the nature of the post, there will be a requirement to work outside of normal office hours in order to support the delivery of our busy events programme. In order to deliver this, the service has adopted an annualised hours approach.

For further information, please contact shelley.smith@wolverhampton.gov.uk

Interviews will take place on 26th August.
