Events and visitor services in Sandwell are a vital part of community life. They bring people together, celebrate and commemorate, and provide entertainment, cultural, and sporting experiences for our 360,000 plus residents. Sandwell benefits from some prestigious event locations – from Sandwell Valley Country Park, with Sandwell Valley Showground, Dartmouth Park, and 8 other Green Flag Parks. Other venues range from museums to Lightwoods House and Park.
Sandwell has an ambition to deliver a programme of events that serve our communities, but also attract visitors to the borough. This year, we have delivered the Queen’s Baton Relay Sandwell leg, which saw tens of thousands celebrate and welcome the Baton across 9 events in one day visiting each of our six towns in Sandwell. Our future programme includes seasonal large events, including Christmas, pride, diverse celebrations, November 5th, and festivals, concerts and family events. Our team also supports and processes dozens of community and external events a year, making sure they are safe and well run.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious, determined, and creative Marketing Officer to join our Events Team, and work to Celebrate Sandwell and help put us on the events and visitor experience map in the West Midlands.
You will be experienced in social media use for marketing, have excellent skills in using digital technologies for marketing and promotion, and have an eye for detail and creativity.
You will have experience of marketing concepts, managing design and contractor relationships for marketing, and an understanding of events and visitor services (museums, destination sites). You will care deeply about our residents and have a strong desire to promote and celebrate Sandwell.
Requirements:
You must hold a degree in Marketing or equivalent recognised qualification in Marketing, and or relevant experience that can demonstrate Marketing strategy, development, and delivery
There is the opportunity for this role to work flexibly, with at least 2 days a week required on site in the borough.
