Brief overview of the role

Telford & Wrekin Council are seeking a enthusiastic, self-motivated manager with a genuine commitment to achieve and drive forward our ambitions for the Environmental Health service. The team incorporates food hygiene & standards, health & safety, commercial & domestic pollution, nuisance and private sector housing.

Working to the Public Protection Service Delivery Manager the post holder is responsible for:

• The management of a team of both professional and support staff.

• Enable and support the delivery of the Council’s vision and priorities

• Lead on organisational change including the development of commercial skills

within the team to engender a business winning culture that should see new

income streams established.

• Actively manage a LEAN agenda to oversee more modern ways of working.

• To oversee the implementation of a selective licensing scheme.

To work with the Service Delivery Manager to ensure a competent, customer focussed workforce exists with appropriate skills, behaviours and organisational structure to deliver successful outcomes along with appropriate systems of quality assurance, communications, financial management, performance monitoring and review are in place.

Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent with a relevant professional qualification and EHORB registration. Evidence on continued professional and personal development and experience of managing a team of professional officers.
