An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Compliance Officer to join our high quality, professional Trading Standards team at Staffordshire County Council. You will be joining a department that focusses on delivering the most effective service for Staffordshire residents and embraces intelligence led activity within a matrix working environment.

Salary:  Apprentice Grade 8 £16,508 in year 1 rising to £17,884 in year 2 or National Minimum Wage for age – whichever is greater (pro rata).

1 Post - 37 hours per week –Fixed-Term whilst undertaking apprenticeship

Our vision at Staffordshire County Council is for a connected Staffordshire, where everyone has the opportunity to prosper, be healthy and happy.  Staffordshire Trading Standards is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly competent individual as an Apprentice Compliance Officer to support the team in protecting Staffordshire’s residents and promoting a safe and fair-trading environment across Staffordshire.

Trading Standards enforce a wide range of legislation relating to the supply and distribution of goods and services whilst providing consumer protection for the residents of Staffordshire with a focus on the most vulnerable to ensure they have a safe, healthy and financially secure environment.

We are looking for an Apprentice Compliance Officer to help us protect residents and promote a safe and fair-trading environment across the County.  The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer Apprenticeship and work towards professional trading standards qualifications; to provide business advice, respond to enquiries and complaints; support inspection interventions; support and work towards undertaking investigation of criminal offences and other related work relating to the full range of Trading Standards activity including income generation. 

The successful candidate will be an extremely self-motivated individual, with the capacity for learning and development, and have excellent communication skills which are essential. An awareness of the Intelligence Operating Model and use of how intelligence can be used to drive Trading Standards activity would be an advantage, but support and training will be provided. .
