Our approach is to ensure that adults who require Mental Health support can live healthy, safe, independent and fulfilling lives. A strong emphasis will be on leadership and to champion a culture of strong partnership working across all disciplines, internal and external partners, and stakeholders, at strategic and operational levels, to deliver integrated support and key strategies for people with lived experience of mental health, their families and carers. This will ensure adherence to the councils’ vision which promotes strengths-based practice across all levels of the service. To provide a consist approach to adult social care.

We are committed to co-production and the approach to research, policy and practice in mental health and social care based on the principle that people who use services have valuable knowledge and expertise.

Our centre vision is that Social Work teams work holistically, with the person and their social network, helping to strengthen and build sustainable family and social capital. Defining the roles of social workers and raising their confidence as a workforce will contribute to better practice and better mental health outcomes.

Mental Health Services are currently looking for three experienced and dedicated Assistant Team Managers to work full-time. The ideal candidate will possess a highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice and will be part of a dynamic management team which is caring and supportive.

Extensive knowledge of Social Work-related legislation including The Care Act, Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Mental Health Act (MHA), Human Rights Act, Equalities Act and a detailed awareness of both national and local policies and procedures relevant to Social Work/Social Care are essential. A willingness to undertake either AMHP/BIA/ Practice Educator training is critical to this role. 

You will work with the Team Managers and other Assistant Team Managers to ensure there is a robust and efficient duty system, managing duty, identifying, assessing and meeting needs of the citizens of Dudley and the service. Provide professional support, case management and professional social work advice/knowledge, using critical reflective skills in management practice, supervision and annual review. The successful candidates will oversee and lead safeguarding investigations, chairing case conferences and strategy meetings as appropriate.

We have 1 Assistant Team Manager posts in the following areas:-

Prevention - the team will identify and signpost individuals to third sector organisations who are able to provide low level support in the community if appropriate.  Individuals who do not require any community support will be discharged and will be able to re-refer themselves should the need arise. Support through a mixed blend of statutory and third sector social interventions. Interventions will utilise a strengths-based approach in line with the vision of the wider adult social care directorate and seek where possible to connect individuals and or groups to the community. Asset based mapping and development will support this process.

The qualities we are looking for in the successful candidates are to be able to work and thrive under pressure, integrity, positivity, creativity influence empathy and respect.

These posts will be supported by appropriate training and supervision. Opportunities will be available for individuals to work across the different areas to gain a full understanding of the service delivery model.
