Amongst the many strands of support our Economy and Skills service has to offer, the Employability and Skills team is set to significantly grow. We are launching a number of opportunities for highly skilled and creative individuals with a passion for skills, who also embrace new challenges.

This is such an exciting time to join the team as we embark on a journey to create a whole host of different work streams, tackling many of the council’s high priority areas.

Building on some existing skills support services, the team will work to develop and deliver a range of programmes, projects and campaigns to meet business and employment needs, one of the key deliverables we feel will allow us to maintain a strong economy with a well skilled population.

The team will offer a number of support services, primarily supporting businesses, gathering economic needs, whilst also supporting in the creation of career opportunities linking to employment, education and skills partners. A large number of businesses we support require impartial advice and guidance on suitable skills solutions to meet their business needs, this requires a well informed and practical approach in the creation of tailored business skill plans, with the option of ongoing support to implement and monitor progress.

Referring businesses to education and employability partners is part of our everyday business conversations, this requires advisors with extensive knowledge of Apprenticeships, traineeships, T-levels and wider funding available.

Supporting the county’s local partnerships is also an important part of the role, organisations such as the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and FSB whom all contribute and support our Skills agenda. Supporting partner events, campaigns and meetings is a great opportunity to build partnership working but also to connect with the business community.
