We are looking for an Operations Manager with a passion for events to join our growing team.

As part of the vision for Wolverhampton to be an Events City, we are developing a bold five-year Events Strategy, building on the existing events programme,  aimed at delivering footfall and local economic benefit to the city. Join us on our journey to develop and deliver this ambitious plan.

Working closely with partners, our vibrant programme of events, with audiences ranging from 8 – 80,000, including live events, festivals, religious events, televised events, major sporting events, community events and large and small outdoor events across many locations in the city.

The post-holder will be responsible for the operational delivery of the events programme, managing a multi-skilled team across a busy programme of events in a variety of formats. Responsibilities will range from the delivery of small indoor events and the day to day requirements of managing those buildings, up to large scale events in temporary spaces, both indoor and outdoor, across our diverse events programme.

About you

We are looking for someone with the essentials;

  • Extensive experience of working in events.
  • Experience of working on large and small scale events.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.

But equally important is your;

  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Working knowledge of the events industry.
  • Passion for events delivery.
  • Ability to lead an operational team to deliver successful outcomes. 

Key requirements

The successful candidate will lead the operational planning and delivery for the service, acting as lead officer during events, with a strong focus on event safety, management and planning.

Bringing extensive experience in events to the role, the postholder will have a proven track record of event management at different scales, event planning and health, safety and security. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, with a passion for events and delivering the best possible experiences for our customers.

Due to the nature of the post, there will be a requirement to work outside of normal office hours in order to deliver our busy events programme. In order ot deliver this, the service has adopted an annualised hours approach.
