Required from 5th September 2022

32 hours per week

TA Grade 3 Scale 4/5 (points 7-17), £15,122.82 - £18,433.80 per annum

We are looking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Learning Support Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with a high focus student with autism.

The successful applicant would be required to work with an individual student, both in the classroom, during breaks and lunchtimes to assist with safety, behaviour and motivation, assisting the student with the development of social skills as well as the work in the classroom.  General class support would involve working with several identified pupils under the direction of the class teacher.

The position will involve some specialised training in Autism, which will be provided by the school, and there will be an expectation of a high level of curriculum adaptation to enable the pupil to access lessons effectively in a mainstream setting.  This will involve the person being highly proactive and independent in sourcing materials and resources and working effectively alongside the teaching staff.

To be successful for this position we are looking for candidates with previous experience of working with young people with behavioural and learning difficulties, preferably on a one-to-one basis.  Previous experience of working in a school environment is essential.

The school offers a positive working environment in a supportive friendly team which prides itself on the quality of its work.  Alvechurch Middle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We undertake clear procedures to ensure that all staff appointed to the school are suitable to work with young people.
