Social Care Team Manager - Disabled Children and Young People Team

Grade 9 / £52,809 - £55,895

1 Full Time Position - Permanent Role

As a forward-thinking and transformational council, we have created this fantastic opportunity for you to be part of the ongoing development of a specialist and multidisciplinary children with disabilities team from 0 to 25 years old.  This team works with children and young adults with complex needs the full spectrum of disabilities.  You will be responsible for managing a team including Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, and Support Workers to achieve the best outcomes for children with disabilities in Wolverhampton.

The post holder will:

  • Be a qualified social worker, with practice and managerial experience of working with children, young people, and young adults with disabilities
  • Show an understanding and commitment to the creative development and best practice in supporting children with disabilities.  Acting as a champion within the service for restorative best practice and co-production with families
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and have a proven track record of motivating and building highly effective teams, achieving best outcomes
  • Co-ordinate the team, directly supervise the social workers; keyworkers in managing complex needs
  • Ensure the provision of a high quality and effective social work service that meets the needs of children and their families including safeguarding of children and adults in a timely manner within statutory guidelines.
  • Represent the service within multi-agency forums and to contribute to the development of policy and practice in Children’s Services across the city.
  • Ensure this social work service is fully integrated within the wider Children's and Adult’s Services in order to promote positive outcomes for children, young adults, and their families to support children with disabilities to live an “ordinary” life.

The successful candidate will report to the Service Manager and Designated Social Care Officer and be responsible for the development of the Disabled Children’s and Young Person’s Team. The role requires frequent attendance at various Panels across Children’s Social Care, Health and Education as well as Practice Improvement across the team.

These posts are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to undertake:

o A children's panel

o A panel interview (including presentation)
