The Role

37.0 Hours per Week

We are looking for experienced and mobile archaeologists to undertake excavations, surveys, watching briefs and post-excavation duties to the appropriate CIfA standards.


Key Requirements

Good general education and knowledge of British archaeology

Hand excavation and site planning skills

Significant excavation /post-excavation experience

Experience of computers, including databases and word-processing

Knowledge and understanding of basic principles of project planning

Experience of archaeological photography

Experience of survey equipment (EDM, total station or GPS)

Experience of archaeological site recording, artefact recovery, sampling and processing procedures

Ability to undertake archaeological observation and salvage recording (including monitoring of contractors’ plant) without constant direct supervision and to write short reports

Experience of use of aerial photographs

Knowledge of CIfA and other archaeological standards

Ability to work either unsupervised or in a team

Flexible approach to working arrangements

Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers

Ability and willingness to travel in order to undertake the duties of the job
