About Us!
Sandwell’s Development Planning Service forms part of the Regeneration and Growth Directorate. The directorate is looking to deliver a large new housing programme to meet the Council’s housing needs along with programmes to generate business growth within Sandwell.
The Development Planning Services is fundamental to delivering these objectives dealing with the planning applications arising from this and those from the commercial sector. These planning applications need to be determined in line with Government targets and to ensure that public sector funding requirements are met.
We collaborate with several stakeholders, including members of the public, our Councillors, developers and other Council Departments.
The Opportunity!
Sandwell’s Development Planning Service would like to recruit a Senior Planner (fixed term contract 3 years).
Candidates should be affiliated to the RTPI and must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 5 year’s experience dealing with a range of complex planning applications which include major development schemes within the public sector and/or private sector.
Candidates should demonstrate resilience with dealing with a large complex caseload and their negotiation skills to achieve high quality schemes.
Candidates should also demonstrate experience of dealing with a variety of stakeholders as part their negotiations.
Candidates must have a Degree in Town Planning and full membership of either the Royal Town Planning Institute or RICS (Planning Division).

37 hours per week
