Job Details
St Matthias is a good school where staff know students well. Leaders work hard to ensure that everyone feels part of the school's diverse community. Students feel happy and safe at school. This role is suitable for an experienced Head of Maths or an excellent teacher who aspires to be a Head of Maths in the near future.
The Head of Maths will take lead responsibility for providing leadership and management for the subject to secure:
- High-quality teaching
- Effective use of resources
- Improved standards of learning and achievement for all
We offer an extensive CPD program of support.
The job requires a person who:
- Is an excellent teacher
- Can lead and deliver quality learning in Maths with all students
- Wants to innovate and develop Maths within the curriculum model
- Can lead and be part of a team
The Maths department follow the Person Edexcel Schemes of work which are comprehensively resourced for both key stages
- Expert knowledge of the National Curriculum, particularly the maths curriculum
- Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning strategies in the subject, and the ability to model this for others and support others to improve
- Awareness of local and national organisations that can provide support with delivering the subject
- Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs
- Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils and their perents/carers
- Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
- Good IT skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate a vision and inspire others
Salary Range: Main to Upper pay scale / TLR (dependent upon experience and expertise)
Contract Type: Negotiable
Starting Date: Autumn Term 2023 or sooner where possible
