Senior Accountancy Officer – Ref: CG00917
G9 £31,288 - £36,019 per annum.

Walsall Council is an exciting place to work, with ambitious plans ahead, and to realise these plans we are seeking talented people who are at the top of their game to join our accountancy service.

The service has recently been successful in supporting the organisation with a series of multi-million pound projects including the redevelopment of the Civic Centre to provide modern office accommodation, development of the Walsall Waterfront offering new residential accommodation, hotels and leisure facilities, ongoing investment in its town centre and retail provision, a major investment in transport focussed on the enterprise zone and M6 junction 10, and the bid to create the West Midlands Combined Authority which will support an £8bn ten year investment plan to get the West Midlands moving and drive local growth.

For this reason, and to support the continued success of the organisation, we are seeking the very best candidates; people who can share our vision and who have a track record of making things happen.

In exchange we will provide an attractive employment package that includes a generous annual leave entitlement of up to 32 days, a flexible working scheme that allows up to a further 12 days leave per year and a career average pension scheme.

At Walsall Council we know our financial personnel play a pivotal role in achieving our ambitions, that’s why these posts are critical to our success. So if you are looking for a genuinely exciting opportunity to work in a challenging and rewarding position, we would like to hear from you.

As a Senior Accountancy Officer you should ideally hold a CCAB / CIMA qualification and be undertaking active CPD, The post require a thorough understanding of providing accountancy services within a large complex organisation, however in recognition of the knowledge that experience in other sectors can bring, whist an understanding of local government practice would be an advantage we would stress that it is not essential.

For more information or an informal discussion please contact Ross Hutchinson (01922 658411), Tracey Evans (01922 652329) or Dilys McGrath (01922 650794).

Closing Date: Friday 5 May 2017
Interviews will be held week beginning : 15 May 2017
