How we work

Warwickshire Disability offers overnight residential short breaks to children 5-17 with severe learning difficulties and complex needs. The aim of the project is to achieve positive outcome for young people by promoting personal and social development as well as making a positive a positive difference to families by supporting parents.

How you’ll make a difference:

Children’s Services Workers work directly with children and young people including undertaking personal care tasks and supporting children in a variety of activities which assist their development and enable them to get the most from their short breaks. You will act as key-worker for up to 3 young people/families, which will require regular liaison with Social Workers, Teachers and Health professionals. 

Working hours will include working shifts, both early and late shifts, and regular weekend working.

What you’ll need:

  • Good understanding of the needs of children with severe learning disabilities.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of health and safety concerns.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • VQL3 (Residential Childcare) or equivalent is required for the post - candidates should either have or be willing to undertake.
