We are currently recruiting for:
Open Space/Countryside Officer for a period of 33 Weeks (From June 17)
We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, committed individual to join our team Parks and Countryside team. The post will provide maternity cover and as such particular emphasis will be placed on certain duties within the full job description:
• You will regularly monitor our nature reserves / environmental sites to ensure that our grounds maintenance contractor is properly undertaking their maintenance obligations and also to check the general condition of site ‘furniture’ and infrastructure
• You will investigate and respond to public enquiries about the sites with the support of other parks and countryside team members
• You will deliver our Conservation Volunteers group weekly task - delivering habitat management and access improvement works. You will direct the work and ensure that safe working practices are followed.
• To provide advice and guidance on nature conservation and biodiversity related matters, contributing comments on planning applications as required
Applicants should have relevant demonstrable experience in these key aspects of the role and ideally have experience more generally of wildlife site and public open space site management.
Applicants should ideally have a degree in Environmental Studies or a related subject and at least three years post-qualification experience. Applicants with equivalent qualifications and experience, or with significant demonstrable experience in these sorts of roles will also be given equal consideration.
The post will also require good IT, oral and written skills.
A full driving licence is essential and a current first aid at work certificate is also desirable
