Community Project Officer
22 hours - Per Week until 31 Oct 2018
Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service are looking to recruit a part time Community Project Officer to work alongside archaeologists and archive staff. Are you passionate about history and keen to encourage others to get involved with Worcestershire's past? If so we would like you to join our team
Our active outreach programme reaches over 7,000 people a year including school children, students, family historians, local groups and archaeological societies. Our events include talks, walks, tours, community excavations, film screenings, partnerships with arts professionals, training programmes, workshops and history based activities and our social media audiences are growing fast. We are always looking for different ways to engage with new people.
We are looking for an individual with a strong community outreach background to join our team. The outreach team is self- funding so you will be expected to plan, cost and deliver events and activities as well as taking part in larger multi-disciplinary projects. You should have significant experience in relevant heritage work, as well as experience of working with the public including supervising volunteers.
You must be able to communicate effectively with a range of people from those who have no historical or archaeological knowledge to experienced researchers and everyone in between. To bid for and deliver projects we work with a wide range of partners and you will need to have a flexible attitude to plan your work around external timetables and priorities. A strong customer focus is essential.
This post is based at The Hive, but events may take place across Worcestershire or beyond. Occasional evening and weekend working will be required.
