Job Details

The road safety and travel awareness team and are proactive team that deliver a range of road safety and travel awareness education, training and publicity across the Borough of Dudley.

The team are currently looking to appoint a number of enthusiastic casual road safety assistants, to assist with the delivery of activities and add to it’s existing workforce.

Although casual, ideally candidates need a minimum of two days per week availability in order to effectively deliver our programmes of education in schools.

'Due to an increased demand for Bikeability cycle training delivery we are particularly interested in appointing applicants who have a keen interest in cycle training, and would be willing to undertake the training required to deliver our cycle training in schools. This aspect of the role requires a minimum of two consecutive days availability per week during school term time.’

Hours: Casual / As and when required/ ideally 2 days per week minimum

Salary: £11.79 to £11.98 per hour dependant on role undertaken

These are casual posts, required to deliver a range of activities, including some or all of the below:

  • Cycle training and cycle maintenance
  • Pedestrian training
  • Presentations in schools and to community groups
  • Year 6 transition training
  • Events
  • Administration tasks

Different hourly rates apply to each of the above activities.

Training will be given for each specific job role.

Due to service requirements and demand the majority of the work offered by the team usually takes place between 8.30am and 3.30pm weekdays, therefore some regular availability is required during these times.

We are also experiencing a high level of demand for our cycle training and would like to offer more Saturday morning training sessions, so there will also be a requirement for flexibility and availability on some weekends.

We are actively seeking staff to deliver our year 6 transition training presentations in schools.

Ideally you will have experience working with young people or adults in a training environment, an interest in road safety and cycling, and the ability to transport yourself and equipment to locations throughout the Borough. You will also need good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, school staff and trainees. Training for specific roles will be provided.
