Would you like to make a big difference as a key member of a small team?

We are seeking a commissioning and contracts lead to support the vision for the county’s children and young people, which is to have the best start in life and grow up healthy, happy and safe within supportive family environments.

There is a history of strong partnership working here. Your commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people and families will include a co-productive approach that ensures their voices inform commissioning decisions. You will work closely with stakeholders across local, regional and national areas, including education, health, care, statutory, community, and independent sectors that support children and families. You have excellent negotiation and influencing abilities, as well as able to clearly provide, receive and be challenged on complex, sensitive or contentious matters. Working collaboratively, you are proactive in identifying innovative ways to challenge the status quo and ensure services meet current and future local need in sustainable ways.

At a strategic level, you will take a lead in refreshing Herefordshire’s children and young people’s plan, and will support joint commissioning arrangements with the Clinical Commissioning Group. You will also lead colleagues, partners and stakeholders throughout the commissioning cycle on specific projects. A key focus will be ongoing transformation work for disabled children, including the delivery of the local short breaks offer. Other projects you may support include commissioning for early help, safeguarding, looked after children or care leavers. At the operational level, you will be responsible for a range of contracted services and will line-manage members of the team, with a focus on the directorate’s contract management arrangements across several portfolio areas.

If you would like to discuss the role, you can contact Richard Watson, Joint Commissioning Manager on 01432 260123.
