Job Title: Solicitor (Level 1) or Solicitor (Level 2) (Childcare)

Staffordshire County Council is looking to recruit a qualified solicitor/Legal Executive/Barrister either newly qualified or with some experience of this area of work, preferably in a local government environment. Experience of team working in a professional environment is of particular value.

Solicitor (Level 1) (Childcare) - Having completed your training, you will join our existing busy team of Solicitors/Legal Executives/Barrister, handling your own caseload of child protection and related proceedings and advising social workers under supervision provided by Senior Solicitors.  A strong team player, you will enjoy managing your own case load to include contested hearings of up to one day duration and working in this busy and demanding area. You will be focused on practical and positive outcomes for children.  You will have strong IT skills.  You will have a solid knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulation and guidance that forms the basis of public law proceedings and you will have an understanding of the challenges and the practicalities of working within public law proceedings.

Solicitor (Level 2) (Childcare) - With at least two years post qualification experience, you will join our existing busy team of solicitors/Legal Executive/Barrister, handling your own caseload of child protection and related proceedings and advising social workers. A strong team player, you will enjoy conducting your own advocacy and working in this busy and demanding area. You will be focused on practical and positive outcomes for children.  You will have strong IT skills.  You will have excellent knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, regulations and guidance that forms the basis of public law proceedings.  You will have an understanding of the challenges and the practicalities of working for a Local Authority within public law proceedings.  You will have a breadth of experience across a number of areas of public law proceedings.
