Flood Risk Management Apprentice
The Flood Risk Management Team work to reduce and mitigate flood risk to communities within Warwickshire through partnership working, and by adopting a prioritised, economic and environmentally sustainable approach. We use GIS data and historic flood reports to ensure that we keep the residents and businesses of the county safe from the effects of flooding.

Fixed term contract for two years.
This Apprenticeship will start in September 2017
Apprenticeship Pay Scale from 1 April 2017:
Point 1 = £149.85 per week, £4.05 per hour, £7,813.61 per annum – initial salary for all new starters for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship. Progression of pay after 12 months are complete as follows:
Point 2 = £207.20 per week, £5.60 per hour, £10,804.00 per annum completed 12 months and aged 19 - 20
Point 3 = £260.85 per week, £7.05 per hour, £13,601.46 per annum completed 12 months and aged 21 – 24 (Fixed term salary point for higher Apprentices)
Point 4 = £277.50 per week, £7.50 per hour, £14,469.64 per annum – completed 12 months and aged 25+
This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your Civil Engineering career with a Top 100 Apprentice Employer! Working with the Flood Risk Management Team, you'll help the team to answer enquiries from Senior Officers, Elected Members, colleagues, partner organisations and the general public; you'll assist in updating and interrogating databases that are used by the team, such as the planning applications and consents database, and also coordinate the revision and updating of GIS data, producing site plans and mapping for team; and you'll accompany engineers and members of the FRM team on site visits across Warwickshire in a supporting role.
Through shadowing, learning, and ultimately taking part in the work of the FRM team, you will be able to apply your learning to the Level 3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship that both we and your training provider, South and City College Birmingham, will support you to complete.

In order to apply for this apprenticeship, you will require:
- A minimum of five GCSE's at grades A*C or equivalent, including English and Maths
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft applications and databases
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- The ability to analyse and interpret factual information to solve straightforward problems
- Selfmotivation and a willingness to learn new skills and gain further knowledge
- Another important requirement is that you can travel to Warwick, where this job will be based. Travel to work is not something that we can support you with, so please consider how you will get to work each day before applying.

The Training Provider for this apprenticeship is South and City College, Birmingham. The delivery of the apprenticeship qualification will include day release at the SCCB campus in Birmingham during term time. Travel costs incurred from travelling to college will be reimbursed to you.
Please note: This apprenticeship is NOT open to applicants who already have a qualification at Level 3 or above in Civil Engineering and/or Technical Construction the undertaking of any apprenticeship must be considered as new learning for the individual.
