Traffic and Road Safety Technical Apprentice
The Traffic and Road Safety Group consists of four teams, who specialise in Engineering Delivery and Parking Management, Education and Development, Safer Routes to School and Driver Education. The Engineering Delivery and Parking Management Team is responsible for: reducing personal injury collisions on Warwickshire's roads through engineering improvements to the highway, delivering traffic management type schemes, implementing speed limit changes and administering onstreet parking throughout Warwickshire.

Fixed term contract for two years.
This Apprenticeship will start in September 2017.Apprenticeship Pay Scale from 1 April 2017:
Point 1 = £149.85 per week, £4.05 per hour, £7,813.61 per annum – initial salary for all new starters for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship. Progression of pay after 12 months are complete as follows:
Point 2 = £207.20 per week, £5.60 per hour, £10,804.00 per annum completed 12 months and aged 19 - 20
Point 3 = £260.85 per week, £7.05 per hour, £13,601.46 per annum completed 12 months and aged 21 – 24 (Fixed term salary point for higher Apprentices)
Point 4 = £277.50 per week, £7.50 per hour, £14,469.64 per annum – completed 12 months and aged 25+
This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your Civil Engineering career with a Top 100 Apprentice Employer! As an Apprentice within Engineering Delivery and Parking Management you will be trained to support the Team in carrying out: collision investigation reports/schemes, designing traffic management schemes, implementing Traffic Regulation Orders, liaising with Local Members, implementing remedial schemes and, once qualified, carrying out Road Safety Audits.
You'll be supervised at all times and the roles and your work duties undertaken by you will be closely monitored so that you gain good experience on the technical aspects and duties required to enable Warwickshire County Council to undertake it's Traffic and Road Safety activities. We will ensure you receive the necessary on the job training, plus you'll attend college on a one day and one evening a week basis to gain the understanding and knowledge required to undertake this work and gain a level 3 apprenticeship qualification in Civil Engineering.

In order to apply for this apprenticeship, you will require:
- A minimum of five GCSE's at grades A*C or equivalent, including English and Maths
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft applications and databases
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- The ability to use your own initiative to respond independently
- Selfmotivation and a willingness to learn new skills and gain further knowledge
- Another important requirement is that you can travel to Warwick, where this job will be based. Travel to work is not something that we can support you with, so please consider how you will get to work each day before applying.

The Training Provider for this apprenticeship is South and City College, Birmingham. The delivery of the apprenticeship qualification will include day release at the SCCB campus in Birmingham during term time. Travel costs incurred from travelling to college will be reimbursed to you.
Please note: This apprenticeship is NOT open to applicants who already have a qualification at Level 3 or above in Civil Engineering and/or Technical Construction the undertaking of any apprenticeship must be considered as new learning for the individual.
