Warwickshire Attendance Service: Audit and Compliance Officer
An opportunity has arisen which means that we are now seeking to recruit an Audit and Compliance Officer.
Full time: 37 hours per week – Term-Time Only plus 2 Weeks
Salary Scale: H
Reporting to the Team Lead – Audit and Compliance, Attendance Service, you will be supporting an established team delivering attendance services to improve outcomes for children and young people. Warwickshire Attendance Service also undertakes an enforcement and prosecution role in relation to school attendance on behalf of the local authority.
About the role
You will be part of the team administering the leave of absence process, undertaking attendance audits, analysing school attendance data, screening referrals, and providing advice to ensure education providers, parents/carers and other agencies are aware of their statutory responsibilities in relation to school attendance.
You will be required to keep electronic case records and reports ensuring they are of a high quality, up to date and accurate. Appropriate referrals for leave of absence will require you to use escalation and enforcement procedures in line with The Non-School Attendance and Penalty Notices Code of Conduct and The Code for Crown Prosecutors.
Ideally, we are seeking someone with an understanding of school attendance processes including the use of the SIMs system (or equivalent MIS) for the extraction and analysis of quantitative attendance data. Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel are a must.
You will be supporting schools by offering advice and guidance in relation to whole school attendance strategies in line with ‘Working Together to Improve School Attendance 2022’. The role may include reviewing staged approaches to improved attendance, attendance coding, policy, systems, and processes reviews. Working as part of a team there will be training, and support provided to you to ensure that the customer receives the best quality delivery.
As a team we have embraced WCC agile working arrangements however, we have three area bases – North (Bedworth), South (Warwick) and East (Rugby). We deliver a statutory and traded function to schools across Warwickshire as well as those out of the county, therefore the successful applicant must be able to travel when appropriate.
