Job Details

This position is a Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2025 due to projects

This is a fixed term post, to work in the Wednesbury area of Sandwell. The project seeks to improve safety in public spaces and for residents.

The post holder will work closely with the Police and the Council’s ASB Team and others to provide a proactive and preventive approach to reduce crime and ASB within the community, offering advice to householders and commercial premise owners.

Providing an additional front-line link between residents / businesses and the council / police. Developing campaigns and working with the community to build community capacity - establish and encourage people to get involved and take ownership of their own areas and build social capital.

The post holder will link with the other elements of the project which includes the introduction of a business radio link scheme, enhancement of CCTV in the area and the installation of nuisance bikes inhibitors at hotspots. It is envisaged that by concentrating on these areas, crime will be reduced through preventative measures, community engagement and increased resilience and ownership that will leave a legacy at the end of the project of a safer environment and increased feelings of safety and cohesion.

We are looking for someone who has good interpersonal skills, able to build positive working relationships with a range of partners and can work co-operatively with a wide range of people across community boundaries.

Qualifications/Requirement

  • GCSE Grade A – C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Driving Licence & Car owner
