Job Details
Are you AAT qualified, with a minimum of 2 years experience in a financial role and looking to commence or further your career with Staffordshire County Council?
If so, you are encouraged to consider the role of External Reporting Officer, a key role within our dynamic and motivated Corporate Finance team, to assist with producing statutory accounts, grant claims and statutory submissions for the County Council, across all services but with a particular focus on schools.
Working closely with schools, partners and colleagues across the County Council, you will help the Corporate Finance team to ensure statutory returns are submitted on time and that financial resources are managed appropriately. Experience of the financial principles relating to schools together with data manipulation and analysis would be helpful, and the successful applicant will need to be conscientious with a good eye for detail.
You will have an office base in Stafford, and we currently operate hybrid working, so there is flexibility for you to work from home, subject to service requirements.
Main ResponsibilitiesYou'll:
- Work with internal/ external partner stakeholders
- Support the process of maintained schools’ conversions to academy status
- Lead on the monitoring of education grants and submission of statutory returns to government departments
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the overall aims and objectives of Corporate Finance
We are looking for someone who:
- Is AAT qualified or has equivalent experience
- Has a minimum of two years’ experience working in a financial role
- Has knowledge of local government finance, preferably with experience of education funding
- Is able to manipulate, analyse and interpret financial data
- Is an excellent team player and can demonstrate an ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
