Job Details

We are looking for someone to supervise a team that contributes to keeping Worcester City tidy, colourful, and safe, making it a great place to live, work, visit and study.

You will take a day-to-day lead for the implementation of robust health and safety practices, completion of associated paperwork, review and implementation of risk assessments and safe working procedures. Plan capacity, ability and work schedules and use your practical knowledge of the service area to provide relevant and technical direction, support and guidance to your team including formal and structured on the job training and induction.

The post holder will be able to:

Provide effective communication with front line teams so that they kept informed of and able to engage with council wide activity and plans.

Provide specialist knowledge and input to service delivery, for example ensuring compliance with waste legislation and return of performance data.

Function as a lead across environmental operations on procurement.

Ensure efficient client-driven delivery within areas of responsibility.

Proactively manage customer relations and expectations and be responsible for ensuring any service failures are dealt with promptly, efficiently, professionally and by the right people.

Provide professional leadership to the team, develop, and manage staff and ensure high standards of customer service, ensuring that enquiries and complaints are dealt with in a courteous and prompt manner.

Assist in defining service delivery targets and managing performance within agreed budgets to achieve continuous service improvement.

The key requirements for this role are:

- Full Driving Licence.

- GCSE Level. English and Maths

- Experience in a waste environment.

- A good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills, able to produce reports and use applications such as Microsoft Office.

- Knowledge of Health and safety related legislation. (ie: - IOSH managing safely)

There will also be a requirement to participate in a call out rota as dictated by the needs of the service.

You will also possess relevant management or industry related experience. For example, management in an operations environment, supervising teams, meeting KPIs, delivering of training to staff.

Your normal working week is one of 37 hours across any 5 weekdays. Initially, you will be expected to work Tuesday to Friday working 9.25 hours per day. However, that can be changed to 5 days covering 37 hours working 7.4 hours per day, with the appropriate notice. Weekend work may also be required to suit the business need.
