The award-winning City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an enthusiastic Workshop Supervisor to join our dynamic and hardworking Fleet Services team. Training opportunities will include relevant courses such as IMI Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle, Levels 3 & 4, specialist vehicle training, and plant and equipment training. MOT experience is welcomed.
This role will involve overseeing the entire workshop function, alongside the existing Workshop Supervisor, working collaboratively together as a team to support the Workshop and Administration Manager. You will be responsible for supervising a team of up to 10+ technicians and additional support staff. You will be responsible for workflow through the depot to maintain maximum efficiency, quality checking all work, monitoring all service and repair work and attempting to maintain 1st time pass rates on all MOTs, create estimates and ensure overall cleanliness and tidiness of the workshop itself.
This role would suit a candidate with a background in the Automotive industry looking to work for an organisation undergoing continuous change and growth, to help the council meet the future of the industry head on. Maintaining efficiency throughout the Workshop
Leading a team of 10 +
Ensuring quality of all repair and service work
Dealing with customers both internal and external
Allocate and progress repairs and maintenance for all of the Authorities vehicles
To complete all mandatory paperwork ( create detailed job cards, based on inspection and fault diagnosis) in accordance with workshop processes and good operator practice.
The successful candidate must be qualified to City and Guilds Part II or equivalent and hold a full and clean driving licence.

Our working arrangements
All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enables and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for ‘touch down’ space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
