Technician (Birches Head High School)
Salary pro rata to 27.5 hour per week term time only
5.5 hours per wek 8.40am to 2.40pm Monday to Friday 30 mins
The main responsibilities of the post will be;
1. Preparation of materials to exact specification from stock as directed and clearing away equipment. Use of metal cutting, milling, turning machines, sewing machines etc.
2. Tool maintenance : Sharpening techniques for edge and point cutting and marking tools, maintenance of all (including textile machinery) hand and machine tools.
3. Marking of models, fixtures etc. - the design and making of the jig, fixtures, racks, tool trays and teaching aids as required by the School teaching staff and working upon own initiative.
4. Provision of support services to the teaching staff in organising requirements for their work in both the Technology and Art department.
Relevant experience is required and experience of working with young people is desirable, as is a good standard of education. Knowledge of the relevant health and safety legislation is also desirable and the ability to drive the school mini-bus would be an advantage.
