County Liaison Engineer
Salary £30,153 - £32,486 + Market Forces Supplement for a 3 year period

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Highways & Transport team within Worcestershire.  Home to over half a million people, covering 672 square miles, with a diverse mix of vibrant urban areas and idyllic rural communities and one of England’s historic Cathedral Cities at its heart. Worcestershire stretches from the edge of Birmingham in the north, to Gloucestershire in the south.

We are looking to appoint a Liaison Engineer who will act as an ambassador for Worcestershire County Council and who will be the primary contact for all Local Member enquiries.  Working closely with Members, he or she will offer guidance and support on major projects and operational issues and be the 'go to' officer, ensuring that all communications are timely, appropriate and fit for purpose, whilst always adopting a politically neutral stance.
He/she will ensure that Worcestershire County Council's priorities and aspirations are managed appropriately in accordance with policies and procedures. A key element of the role is responsibility for safeguarding the political and public reputation of the County Council.
The post is very varied and diverse, offering new challenges every day in a dynamic operational environment.
Applicants should have expert knowledge of Highways legislation, practices and procedures including national developments affecting the Local Government agenda and be proficient in managing the expectations of key stakeholders.  Good communication is essential, together with the ability to lead and motivate others.
