Routes to Ambition is an exciting new programme that will ensure young people in Coventry will get the best start in life through high quality support into job opportunities.
The Employment Link Officer will help to deliver a first class service by working with young people and a wide range of partners. You will demonstrate that you can work with young people who face real difficulties and disadvantage in life. You will know how to build their confidence so that they can achieve and know how to challenge them when they need to raise their game.
The Officer will work closely with the Education and Public Health services of the City Council, plus two specialist private sector delivery partners, to deliver personalised employment ‘barrier breaking’ support to those yp identified as being at risk of becoming NEET. These yp will include those with barriers to employment related to substance misuse, poor sexual health, poor/coercive/abusive relationships (i.e. Child Sex Exploitation) and teenage pregnancy.
You will engage, motivate and support each person. You will act as a central point of contact and as a critical friend as the YP proceeds through their journey into Sustained Participation in the local economy.
You will accurately record your activity and interventions and assist the Project Management Team in processing accurate and detailed performance information. Your work will be target driven. You will need to demonstrate you can assist us to manage finances. You will efficiently monitor and record outcomes that can get young people into sustained jobs.
You will be employed by Coventry City Council as an Employment Link Officer and will be working on the Routes to Ambition Programme. Please note:

•Routes to Ambition is part funded by the European Social Fund and has been designed to give disengaged young people in Coventry the boost they need to be able to fulfil their potential. Young people will benefit from high quality support to help them into education, training and jobs.
•Routes to Ambition will support at least 1,045 Coventry residents who are over the age of 15 and currently at risk of becoming disengaged from education, training or employment. 60% of participants will come from priority wards.
•Routes to Ambition brings together 5 partners, each with extensive experience and expertise of supporting young people who require more individualised and intensive support.
