About Us

County Fleet Maintenance (CFM) are Warwickshire County Council's in house vehicle maintenance operation, with operating bases at Warwick, Wellesbourne and Coleshill. CFM provide a full vehicle maintenance and repair service for County Council vehicles, a large number of other public bodies and a wide range of private customers, including members of the public. The nature of our customer base is such that we deal with an unrivalled variety of vehicles, ranging from heavy commercial vehicles and fire appliances to high performance saloon cars. Much of our work is for the emergency services, and as such we work to tight deadlines and the most exacting quality standards. 16 years: 1st Year - £9,389.60, 2nd Year - £11,950.40, 3rd Year - £15,364.80, 4th Year - £16,218.40

17 years: 1st Year - £9,389.60, 2nd Year - £13,657.60, 3rd Year - £15,364.80, 4th Year - £16,218.40
18 years: 1st Year - £13,657.60, 2nd Year - £14,511.20, 3rd Year - £15,364.80, 4th Year - £16,218.40

This is a fantastic, three year Vehicle and Maintenance Repair Apprenticeship where you'll work on a variety of large public service motor vehicles. We have two vacancies for candidates who are flexible and who can balance mature judgement with the use of initiative, with one vacancy at our Coleshill workshop in North Warwickshire, and another at our Wellesbourne workshop in the south of the county.

Throughout this apprenticeship you'll work under the direction of a fully skilled technician, in order to carry out a complete range of inspection, servicing and repair activities consistent with the highest level of professional standards. By learning from the best, you'll be acquiring the skills and vocational training to become a qualified vehicle technician. The degree of supervision and independence will vary in accordance with experience and formal training. This is a three year apprenticeship in which you will complete the apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at Level 2 and Level 3.

Key Requirements

You'll need to have a high passion for motor vehicles and the mechanical aptitude to understand how they work and are maintained. Experience is not essential, but a good understanding of vehicles and mechanics is required. You'll also need to be a polite and helpful team player, have a high regard for health and safety, and have at least five A* C grades at GCSE or equivalent, including mathematics & a science based subject (preferably physics).

Another important requirement is that you can travel to either Coleshill or Wellesbourne (one or the other, not both), where these vacancies will be based. Travel to work is not something that we can support you with, so please consider how you will get to work each day before applying.

This Apprenticeship will likely start in August/September 2017, subject to satisfactory completion of pre employment checks. You must have completed/be about to complete full time education in order to apply. The Training Provider for this Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship is Coventry City College. Day release with the college will be included. Please note that potential applicants who have already completed Level 2 and wish to do Level 3 are welcome to apply, we will support you through that and scale down the length of the fixed term to an appropriate time frame for you to do this.

Please note: This apprenticeship is NOT open to applicants who already have a qualification at Level 3 or above in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair the undertaking of any apprenticeship must be considered as new learning for the individual.
