This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking individual to aid in the development and innovation of our immersive simulated training suite. In support of our service delivery model, our fire fighters and Officers need to test their skills and knowledge of how to deal with a range of incidents safely and effectively. In support of this CDC provide simulated training environments here at our training facility as well as other locations across the WMFRS area in order to simulate a variety of operational incidents.

Your role will be to assist the Senior Multimedia Developer in the design and production of support videos, presentations and image manipulation as required in order to facilitate the running of the various exercises, simulations and assessments for all Officer roles from Operational level to strategic level, as well as hosting various external partner agencies and other FRS.

The role will also require you to assist in the maintenance, facilitation, co-ordination and creation of Hydra, Minerva & XVR Sims exercises, whilst operating the IT based training packages, providing support in ‘real time’ during exercises either through role playing or assisting with the technical aspects of the systems used.

Applicants must have proven ability to produce consistently high quality work to meet customer requirements and proven experience of using ‘Adobe Photoshop’, ‘Adobe Premier’ and a ‘Simulation software’ to an intermediate level and experience of using a range of graphics packages to produce multi-media materials. You should also have proven experience of filming techniques, photography and video editing and experience of using Hydra and Minerva and XVR Sims simulation software packages is preferable. Applicants must have a Level 4 qualification in a relevant IT or design field, and be willing to undertake training in order to further develop your skills to ensure the Hydra/Minerva/XVR Sims IT systems are kept up to date as technology advances.

It is desirable that the applicant has an understanding of the National Operational Guidance Programme and Incident Command systems and how this provides the incident commander with a clear framework to structure, organise and manage an operational incident. This will allow the candidate to understand the details required to create various different scenarios within either the Minerva or XVR software.

You will report directly to the Senior Multimedia Developer and be able to work to tight deadlines and manage time effectively without supervision on times, have a flexible attitude towards working hours and should be willing to occasionally work outside normal office hours.

Where candidates may not be able to fulfil the full requirements of the role upon appointment but demonstrate potential through the selection process, a tailored development programme may be put in place to facilitate progression in role.  Accordingly, the commencing salary is dependent upon experience and may range from £22,000 to £28,000 per annum.
