We are looking to employ an exceptional Learning Mentor.
The primary function of this role is to provide support and guidance to children, young people and those engaged with them, by removing barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, raise aspirations and achieve full potential.
The post-holder should provide a complementary service that enhances existing provision in order to support learning and encourage social inclusion by developing and maintaining effective and supportive mentoring relationships with children, young people and those engaged with them and to also to work within an extended range of networks and partnerships to broker support and learning opportunities and improve the quality of services to children and young people.
The successful candidate will need to be methodical and accurate in their approach to work, as well as being able to prioritise to tight deadlines. They will need a high level of listening skills in order to be able to see a child’s needs and/or their family’s circumstances, and have the ability to plan appropriate responses (involving multiple agencies where required).
In addition to this they will need the skills to be able to transmit their expertise to their colleagues, ensuring that they are using the appropriate strategies devised for individual children.
