The MASH consists of staff from a number of agencies working together in partnership. We have just started an exciting journey working as a multiagency team to implement a new way of working. This includes developing a responsive and proportionate approach to contacts and referrals with partners in MASH and providing good assessments and effective interventions to families in need.
The MASH Social Workers work in multiagency pods with members of MASH Practitioners from other agencies and supervised by a Team Manager. Social Workers receive calls from members of the public and professionals seeking advice or to make a referral regarding safeguarding concerns. Social Workers gather and risk assess information together with colleagues from other professionals disciplines. Social Workers work to initially screen and triage referrals. For high risk domestic abuse or child protection concerns they work together to undertake MASH meetings which act as a Strategy Meeting to ensure a clear management of risk plan.
