Job Details

This is an exciting time to be joining the ICT team here at Staffordshire. We are about to embark on a redesign of the wider network with our partners and a migration to Azure and you will be key to making it happen.

As a Technical Architect Networks, you will have the skills, knowledge, and drive to help us manage our internal network and to redesign our public sector network in conjunction with Suppliers and Health and Local Authority partners.

You will play a fundamental role in collaborating with suppliers to ensure that the new design provides the best possible outcome for Staffordshire County Council and partner organisations.

In addition, you will be working with other technical architects and staff within ICT as well as suppliers and various partners.  You will help to standardise our approach to network management and to shape the roadmap.

Main Responsibilities

You will play a fundamental role in collaborating with suppliers to ensure that the new design provides the best possible outcome for Staffordshire County Council and partner organisations.

In addition, you will be working with other technical architects and staff within ICT as well as suppliers and various partners.

You will help to standardise our approach to network management and to shape the roadmap.

As part of the Architecture and Technical Standards team you will help to create an architectural framework for Networks, End User Computer and Server Infrastructure/Cloud.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a working understanding of CISCO network and datacentre knowledge.

We are about to embark on a migration of our datacentre to Azure and knowledge of Express route and Azure network technologies is desirable.

We also use Checkpoint security systems so knowledge and experience of these products would be desirable.

If you have experience in the above technologies and would like to move into an architect role, training and development is available. For internal candidates a secondment would be considered.

We also offer flexible working with a mixture of working from home and in the main Staffordshire County Council office in Stafford.

If you would like to discuss the role or working arrangements please contact the Architecture and Technical Standards Manager by email pamela.rowley@staffordshire.gov.uk
