Job Title: Duty Manager EDS -  (Shift Leader)

The Emergency Duty Service is part of the MASH and MAET service and manages all referrals in relation to adults and children’s services out of hours.

We are seeking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Duty Manager, to provide a range of social work services out of hours, primarily in relation to adult and children’s services and also in relation to the provision of appropriate adults. Knowledge of mental health services and issues is also desirable.

You will ensure that an efficient and effective Service is provided to all users, carers and agencies that require an emergency response outside of normal working hours.

Providing guidance and support to sessional adults and children’s social workers and unqualified social work staff, that support the service and act under the guidance, direction and supervision of the duty manager.

Skills & experience

Holding a HCPC recognised Social Work qualification you will also have significant post qualifying experience together with knowledge of key legislations relating to safeguarding Children and Adults.

You are expected to be available for duty according to the service rota managed by the team manager, which covers evenings, weekends & public holidays.

We are looking to appoint will be an experienced Senior Social Worker who has a high level of understanding, knowledge and experience, with respect to safeguarding both vulnerable children and adults.

You will need to demonstrate effective care management skills, have the confidence to manage risk and the ability to work in an often-pressured environment.

The duty manager has primary responsibility to manage a specific shift safely and appropriately. Having the skills to prioritise and delegate work in a timely manner appropriate to need, is an essential part of the role.

Ability to work alone and with a range of agencies in responding to emergency situations within a partnership/holistic approach to problem solving is an important aspect of the role.

You will be responsible for professional assessment and decision making in relation to risk management strategies for vulnerable adults, children, their families /carers balancing a number of key considerations autonomously. The ability to managing competing priorities is also a key skill.

An Enhanced DBS is a requirement for this role.

Additional payments apply for out of hours working (evenings, weekends and bank holidays).
