Term Time Only (Plus 5 INSET Days)
27.5 hours a week, Monday-Friday (opportunities for additional hours may be available)

Required to start as soon as possible Maths Teaching Assistant for 27.5 hours per week to work with students on a one to one basis , small group as well as classroom support within the Maths Faculty. We would welcome applications from candidates with limited experience as well as those who may have worked with children before. We provide excellent support and guidance to successful candidates at all levels of prior experience from a dedicated and experienced team of staff. The Mathematics Faculty consists of a team of highly experienced teachers as well as two current teaching Assistants. There is a Head of Faculty, Assistant head of Faculty and Key Stage Leader all with a wealth of experience to support staff across the Faculty and Maths results are continually positive and some of the best in the Academy at key Stage 4 and 5. 

The main aim of the role is to support students to achieve their full potential by providing targeted support to students within the classroom and 1-1 and small group mathematic interventions within and beyond the classroom.  This is to enable these students to overcome barriers to their learning, particularly in basic mathematical concepts and to enable them to develop more effective coping strategies to enable them to access the curriculum and engage in wider opportunities to enable them to be more successful.

Experience of working with secondary age students and specific Mathematics subject knowledge and experience in interventions would be an advantage. The successful candidate may be asked to work with students across different years/ages and support them with varied learning strategies, in various subjects to support them in their learning for numeracy across the curriculum as needed although the majority of the time they will be working with students in the Mathematics Faculty. 

The post holders' responsibilities may also include providing small group or one to one support; general classroom support, including the induction of new students into the Mathematics curriculum. This also includes developing resources and liaising with teaching staff in the development and delivery of a differentiated curriculum to meet the needs of students with low mathematics KS2 scores or those struggling within the mainstream classroom and then support students in their re-integration into the Maths curriculum.

There are also possibilities and opportunities for Mathematics TA’s who are able to work during lunchtimes (lunch duties) and/or possibilities after school to extend your hours to work with for example for additional curriculum needs and/or to enhance our enrichment opportunities in a variety of areas such as: Literacy, numeracy, SEMH skills and other subject support beyond the curriculum and social and skill based activities to broaden their experiences and opportunities. This will be based on the needs of the Mathematics Faculty, EHCP hours for students and wider needs of the Academy.
