Teaching Assistant 1:1 (Forsbrook CE Primary School)
25 hrs per week Monday – Friday
Temporary Position - Grade 2
(Salary £11,845 - £12,131 pro rata)
The governors at Forsbrook CE Primary School are looking for a highly qualified and experienced professional to work as a specialist Teaching Assistant for a child with multiple medical and educational needs. This is a temporary post initially for one year, but this could extend beyond this time. The post requires a talented individual who is flexible, creative and dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs.
All applicants must be qualified to at least NVQ 3 or equivalent and have experience in dealing with children with complex medical needs. You must be committed to building upon children’s individual strengths and knowledge and be a passionate and reflective practitioner.
A successful Specialist Teaching Assistant will:
Demonstrate a proven track record of working with pupils with complex medical needs
Display excellent communication skills at all levels
Have experience of using a Peg feeding system
Be prepared to support the child’s hygiene needs
Have the ability to work in partnership with parents, teachers and other external support agencies
Have experience of following a Speech and Language Plan
Have some knowledge of Makaton Sign Language
Have high expectations of children's attainment
Be caring and patient and able to cater for the individual needs of the child.
