ICT Service Desk Advanced Apprentice

Warwickshire County Council is the largest employer in the county, and virtually every member of staff uses IT every day for their work. They need the IT Service Desk to provide immediate support for any problems they may have so that their work is not affected. As a member of the Service Desk team, you’ll be an invaluable member of the entire organisation!
37.0 Hours per Week
Fixed term contract for 24 months.
Apprenticeship Pay Scale from 1 April 2017:
Point 1 = £149.85 per week, £4.05 per hour, £7,813.61 per annum – initial salary for all new starters for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship
Progression of pay after 12 months are complete as follows:
Point 2 = £207.20 per week, £5.60 per hour, £10,804.00 per annum completed
12 months and aged 19 20
Point 3 = £260.85 per week, £7.05 per hour, £13,601.46 per annum completed
12 months and aged 21 – 24 (Fixed term salary point for higher
Point 4 = £277.50 per week, £7.50 per hour, £14,469.64 per annum – completed 12 months and aged 25+
On the IT Service Desk, you'll support a wide range of business applications and devices. As the first point of contact for all IT related queries which will include taking customer calls, responding to customers on a range of issues such as supporting mobile devices, password resets and software installation. No call is the same, every call is different and with the Service Desk supporting a wide range of business items, you are guaranteed to always find something new and interesting!
This position is a well established apprenticeship in WCC's IT Service, and during the two year programme we will give you all the training and support you need to become an established IT Professional.

Also required are:
• A minimum of five GCSE's at grade A* C, or equivalent, in English and maths
• Excellent communication skills
• An analytical approach to problem solving
• A smart and professional appearance
• Good listening and note taking skills
• Basic IT knowledge e.g. using Microsoft Office

We understand that you may be interested in becoming an apprentice, but need to finish full time education first – if so then that is not a problem, please do still apply as we will be happy to keep this position vacant for the successful candidate to start in August/September (but no later than that), once your exams are out of the way and you’ve had a summer break! The Training Provider for this apprenticeship is Warwickshire College. Training will take place both on the job and on day release at the college campus in Leamington Spa. You will be given all the support you need to complete this Level 3 IT Technical and Professional apprenticeship.
Please note: This apprenticeship is NOT open to applicants who already have a qualification at Level 4 or above in IT the undertaking of any apprenticeship must be considered as new learning for the individual.
