Supervisory role within the Digital and Data department in the Information Governance team.

We are excited to announce an opportunity within our Information Governance team for the role of Senior Compliance Officer – Operations. 

The area of Information Governance is growing, and this role presents an opportunity to join the Information Governance team supporting the West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) to provide excellence in information management and remain compliant with data protection, freedom of information and other associated legislation. 

As the Senior Compliance Officer Operations, you will work closely with the Information Governance Lead to manage the day-to-day requirements of our information governance framework. Your primary focus will revolve around ensuring compliance with current information governance legislation and standards to enable the smooth running of our existing and evolving processes.  

You will be responsible for mentoring and coaching more junior members of the team to develop their skills and abilities in the area of information governance.

Essential skills include experience of working in a data protection/ information governance role with a strong knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation, ideally supported by a data protection qualification, but consideration will be given to applicants offering relevant job experience. A good working knowledge of Office 365 is essential, and the candidate should have experience of working within records management systems and with varied data flows.
