Salary G8: £34,834 - £39,186 per annum.

Walsall Council has ambitions to achieve Net Zero by 2041 in-line the West Midlands Combined Authority target.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Net Zero Project Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the council’s Net Zero 2041 strategy and action plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including residents, businesses, community groups, and other public sector organisations to identify opportunities for reducing carbon emissions.
  • Develop and deliver projects to reduce carbon emissions. These will include energy efficiency, renewable energy, zero emissions and transport projects.
  • Promote behaviour change projects, for example encouraging active travel and smart energy use.
  • Assist in the development of adaptation and resilience projects to enable the council to mitigate the consequences of climate change.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards achieving the council’s Net Zero 2041 carbon target.
  • Provide expert advice on Net Zero and sustainability issues to council members, officers, and partners.
