The Role

 Bewdley Museum is looking for a Museum and Amenities Officer.

To ensure the day-to-day smooth running of the site in terms of repair and maintenance, contractors, exhibitions/ event setup.

To ensure the smooth running of museum in terms of planning and scheduling of projects and work plans. Supervise and check work of staff, volunteers, and contractors. 

Write risk assessments and manage health and safety of the museum site. 

Key Requirements

  • Good general Education
  • Basic Literacy and numeracy
  • IOSH Managing Safely or work towards the qualification.
  • Experience in general maintenance and repair work
  • Experience in building displays and mounting exhibitions
  • Experience of maintenance of tools and machinery

Knowledge and Skills

  • Able to undertake Health and Safety Risk Assessments
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Understanding of effective security of buildings and premises
  • Experience of co-ordinating external building maintenance and contractors
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently as required.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Awareness of Council Health and Safety Policies and procedures.
  • Experience in providing advice regarding Health and Safety and risk assessments.
  • Computer literate including windows and emails.

Special Requirements

The post is 37 hours a week.  Work may entail some Bank Holiday’s, weekends and the occasional evenings which will be paid in plain time with toil. There is no overtime.
