Job Details
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work as an Outreach Worker at one of our Resource Centres offering short breaks for young people with learning disabilities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience of working with children & young people within this sphere to gain specialist experience of working specifically with children with a wide variety of needs.
The Outreach Worker as part of a multidisciplinary team will offer a range of services including support and care for children and young people with learning disabilities. Whilst ensuring that the young person’s social, emotional, cultural, religious and recreational needs are met.
The post is for up to 25 hours per week and includes weekend and shift working.
Main Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be to assist the management team in ensuring that the care provided from the centre is within current legislation, departmental policies, procedures, practice guidelines and is also appropriate to the assessed needs of the children and young people, taking into account race, gender and disability.
The Ideal CandidateWhat you’ll bring
You’ll need to be flexible as this role does involve shift working, each weekend. Ideally you’ll also have experience of working in a residential setting and you’ll have an NVQ or QCF level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People or be prepared to undertake the training when you start with us. You should ideally have a full clean UK driving licence and be willing to transport young people in local authority vehicles.
