Worcestershire County Council's Libraries and Learning Service is a Grade 2 learning provider on a journey towards being Grade 1.  This advert seeks applications from tutors who would like to be part of our vibrant Family Learning team, leading learning in children's centres, schools, libraries, and other community settings.

Applicants are required to have a teaching qualification and demonstrable expertise in their chosen subject.  Ideally this will be evidenced by relevant experience and a Level 3 subject-specialist qualification.  Successful applicants will be registered in our Libraries and Learning staff pool as an adult tutor on a zero-hours contract and will predominantly teach parents/carers from 19+ years of age. Children join in the learning on some occasions which is team taught along with children's staff.
Courses start in September and October, with a mix of shorter engagement courses and longer accredited courses. Course subjects vary widely and are often practical. They are designed to engage parents to learn how to support their child and further develop their own skills too. We are increasing our work with dads and practical learning and will especially welcome applications from candidates with the appropriate skills for this area of work
Interviews will include short micro-teach presentation and an assessment of English and maths skills.

Many of our Family Learning classes take place in schools and children's centres.  All Tutor posts working with children, and/or on sites designated as "specified places" used by children, require a Disclosure and Barring Service declaration (previously CRB).  Further information regarding this will be available at interview.  We advertise for tutors frequently to ensure an appropriate number of tutors are registered on our database at all times. Successful applicants who have taught with us during the past 12 months need not re-apply in  as your information will be stored in our tutor pool.

If you would like to apply please submit your application at the earliest opportunity. Interviews for candidates will be held shortly after successful applications have been received.
