The Role:

We have a job opportunity for an Archive Assistant to work primarily on the records of the Sandys family of Ombersley, as part of our archive team at Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology Service based at the unique Hive in Worcester.

You will be working on checking, listing and numbering historic documents, assisting with archive conservation and finding opportunities and ideas for learning and outreach work using the collections as a resource. The archive dates from the 1500s to the 20th century and includes paper and parchment documents so familiarity with old handwriting styles would be useful.

Some awareness of Worcestershire county history will be helpful, as well as an interest in family and estate records.

You must be able to work effectively in a team, work independently, demonstrate a good sense of initiative and possess attention to detail. You will also have excellent communication skills and customer service experience. You will receive training in a range of aspects of the role.

It is expected that applicants will have some experience and interest in history and working with primary archive sources.

Please note the working pattern will be Monday to Friday however some Saturdays and occasional evening work will be required.
