Job Details

The Green services Department provides a broad range of horticultural services to locations across the Borough of Sandwell, including Sandwell Valley.

We are seeking to recruit a Countryside Maintenance Operative to work to assist with:

  • grass cutting/strimming, weed management, leaf clearance, bed and shrub maintenance, hedge cutting and various other horticultural tasks.
  • maintaining the Kitchen Garden at Sandwell Valley.
  • various repairs throughout Sandwell Valley i.e., fence and gate repair.
  • maintaining Dartmouth Park.

You must:

  • Have a full UK driving licence with a minimum of 12 months driving experience (you must have the ability to drive a 3.5 tonne, manual, pickup style vehicle, successful candidates will be required to pass a Driving Assessment (if they haven’t already done so).
  • Experience of working in a horticultural environment.
  • Experience of using a range of mechanical and manual horticultural tools.

 

Education:

Must be able to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions.

Ability to compose sentences and undertake simple arithmetic calculations.

 

Hours 

37 Hours per week, including weekend working (Rota basis)
