SENCO Post Autumn/Spring Term

Due to the retirement of our current SENCO, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic SENCO who would like to become part of a highly effective staff team.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding SENCO who:
•    is passionate about children’s wellbeing, especially those who have addition needs
•    Has a proven track record of improving learning and progress for all children
•    Has excellent knowledge of the curriculum and SEND Code of Practice
•    Would provide inspiring leadership for SEND provision at High Meadow
•    Can work effectively and supportively with teachers, parents and external agencies

Although this post will be predominantly non-classroom based, there will be responsibilities around delivering interventions, supporting children who might be experiencing difficulties within the classroom environment and some cover within classrooms.

This post is open to all Qualified Teachers with a minimum of 4 Years Teaching experience, who already hold the SENCO qualification or someone who would now love the opportunity to move into the role of SENCO. Experience of working at a whole school level, involvement in self-evaluation and development planning and experience of conducting training or leading INSET, is desirable but not essential as support and training will be given.

A national professional qualification (NPQ) for SENCOs is replacing the existing qualification, as announced in the SEND and alternative provision improvement plan. Teaching of the NPQ will begin in autumn 2024, which we would be happy to support for anyone wishing to pursue this role.
