Job Details

The Priory Primary School needs to recruit a highly motivated, nurturing and caring practitioner to join our experienced and knowledgeable pastoral team.   Our current team includes a Safeguarding and Welfare Practitioner, a 1:1 Mentor, a First Aid Administrator, an Inclusion Practitioner and a Qualified Children’s Therapist in addition to the role advertised.  You will therefore be part of a strong and cohesive team.   

We are looking for candidates who have a strong skill set to work with students in and outside of the classroom, on a group and one to one basis to provide learning activities, counselling and mentoring support.  We are fortunate to have a dedicated lodge, our ‘Happy Place’, where pupils can work away from the main building.    

Experience of delivering either drawing and/or talking therapy, art and/or lego therapy, alongside mentoring would be an advantage.   However, we would also welcome applications from exceptional candidates who have the potential and willingness to learn on the job.

The successful applicant:

  • Will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience, working with pupils who have a range of social and emotional needs. 
  • Will have effectively supported reluctant families to make positive change and be confident to liaise with parents, professionals and other agencies.
  • Will be knowledgeable about safeguarding.
  • Will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be very nurturing and caring – this is a non-negotiable

Due to the nature of this role, our student council will play a key part in the interview process to ensure that we appoint a child-centred individual.
