Contract Type: Full-time (37 hours per week), Permanent
Reporting to: Executive Headteacher

About the Role

Are you an experienced professional with a passion for education and a knack for administration? St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated School Business Manager to oversee and manage our school's administration, including finance, personnel, health and safety, and premises. This vital role supports the Executive Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher, contributing to the overall planning and development of our school. Key Responsibilities

- Administration & Planning: Organise and manage the school's administrative functions, including planning, developing, and implementing support systems, procedures, and policies.

- Financial Management: Oversee the school's accounting function, prepare annual estimates, monitor budgets, and report financial status to Governors. Manage all financial procedures, including processing payments, invoicing, and budget monitoring.

- Personnel Management: Manage a small team of support staff, including induction, training and welfare. Handle personnel administration processes and maintain the Personnel Management Information System (MIS).

- Health and Safety: Act, in partnership with the Executive Headteacher, as the school's Health & Safety lead, ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies.

- Premises Management: Liaise with the Local Authority/Diocese on major property issues, manage contractors, oversee maintenance and security, and manage the budget for cleaning and caretaking.

- Stock & Resources: Ensure cost-effective procurement of equipment, books, and supplies, and manage ordering systems.

- General Duties: Promote and market the school, manage service contracts, assist with pupil welfare, and participate in training and development activities.

Qualifications and Experience

- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification (e.g., CSBM) or equivalent knowledge and experience in a relevant discipline.

- Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade A-C.

- Word processing knowledge and skills.

- Knowledge of specialist ICT packages (e.g., SIMS FMS and SIMS).

- Experience in senior-level office administration and working in a school environment.

- Supervisory or staff management experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

- Financial administration experience.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Ability to plan and develop systems effectively.

- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

- Awareness and compliance with school policies and procedures (e.g., child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, data protection, confidentiality, contract standing orders).
