Job Details

East Staffordshire Borough Council’s in-house Legal Services has an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join its friendly, supportive and experienced legal team on a permanent contract.

Eligible candidates should be qualified as a solicitor or barrister and possess relevant experience in all aspects of local government law and procedure. Previous local government experience would also be desirable but not essential.

This post would suit a newly qualified solicitor to two years PQE. Someone who is looking for their next career step and experience in a difference sector. 

The post will require a variety of duties commensurate with the experience of the candidate. Depending on experience, the role will require attendance as legal advisor to the Council’s licencing committee or planning committees on a monthly basis; the handling of some litigation matters, alongside the use of the candidates drafting skills so as to undertake contract or planning work. Support and training shall be provided on all duties where required.
